  THE DESIGNER

Passionate about Handcrafts, Alice Sachot is a self-taught maker and experimenter. She has been making clothes since her mother introduced her to sewing and knitting when she was 7-years-old. Later on she fell in love with leather crafts and learnt handmaking shoes ; which lead her into launching 'La French Cut custom-made shoes' when she arrived in Hong Kong, one of the few places where shoes are still Handmade.

"Linking past and present, while looking ahead", Alice's creations are Unique, Refined and Timeless; they result from her passion for Arts and aesthetics, combined with her sense of details and multiple craft skills. She loves using various materials and trying new techniques to find the best balance between Comfort and Beauty.

Through Seasonal Limited Lines available in Shops or in Pop-up events, along with Custom-made Services, she wants to offer as many options as possible for women to feel confident and beautiful while staying true to their own style.

ABOUT La FRENCH CUT

La French Cut is before all aiming for another way of producing and consuming: by taking the time to manufacture unique Custom Pieces according to individuals' needs, we want to offer other options than mass production and mass wasting.

We are a workshop based in Hong Kong and founded from the encounter between a French crafter/ fashion lover and a Hong Kong shoemaker both passionate about the process of creating beautiful pieces. From this combination of skills and craftsmanship, La French Cut was born: she Designs, they Cut, he Makes.

At La French Cut we believe in “Slow Fashion” : We want to go back to the essence of “Couture” when pieces were made to match the customer’s specificities instead of producing standardized items. We take time for crafting each piece according to the customer's materials and designs selection.

Then La French Cut is about Care and Love : we care about you and about what we do, so we will go out of our way to make the best pair of shoes just for you.

HAND-MAKING PROCESS

The Hand Making process is meticulous and requires high expertise. It is realized by passionate and skilled craftsmen who work on each piece, one at a time. Thus each piece is unique, even for a similar design.

Our Shoes are Handmade with 100% genuine leather Lining, Insole and Outsole (unless specified) and with various materials choices for the upper parts : fine and soft lambskin Leathers, bright color Skins, unique prints Textiles... and the list can goes on to anything that can be out on a Shoe.

All our materials are hand picked one by one to ensure optimum quality; which may result in limited quantity for some of the colors.

We find the finest leathers in small family run tanneries in France, as well as in Hong Kong and China depending on our materials needs. We currently manufacture in two workshops located in Hong Kong and China, as we found there a great balance between our quality and craftsmanship requirements, and also because our proximity allows us to get involved as much as possible into the crafting process. (more information on how and where we make our Shoes in our FAQ page << )

OUR SHOES TOUCH AND

FEEL

* Soft leather outsole

We chose to use leather outsoles on all of our shoes as it is the best way to guarantee their comfort. Leather soles are more flexible than plastic and, although they are more sensitive to water, they give a great feeling of lightness when walking as well as an uncomparable refined touch to the Shoes.

* Leather lining and Insole

We select the softest leathers for our linings and insoles in order to provide a maximum comfort and avoid blisters due to the friction with the Shoe. Leather is the best material that combines longevity and practicality as it allows the feet to 'breathe' and limits odors or sweat discomfort.

* Soft upper materials

When not soft lambskin or suede, we select materials as soft as possible for the upper parts of the Shoes in order to maximize the comfort. Your feet gets at ease quicker with the shoes molding around its shape.

* The Handmade touch

If you look very close, you can see that all our Shoes are slightly different from one another as they are handmade one by one. The craftsman cuts the leathers for each parts of the Shoes and assembles it with glue and stitches for best durability. This "handmade touch' makes our Shoes very special and unique.
